On the Donor

In 2019, Ir Tony Shum Chun Kin, a 1977 graduate, donated a sum of HK$10
million to the Department of Civil Engineering for the establishment of the Tony Shum
Education Fund. HK$1.5 million of the donation and HK$1.25 million of the matching
grant obtained from the eighth UGC Government Matching Grant Scheme are dedicated
for the establishment of a scholarship scheme for full-time local undergraduate students of
the Department of Civil Engineering.

Purpose and Scope

Six scholarships shall be awarded each year, including new and renewed awards,
to second year or above, full-time local students of the Department of Civil
Engineering on the basis of academic merit.
3. The value of the scholarship shall be equivalent to the BEng local tuition fees1 for
the degree curriculum.
4. The Scholarship shall be tenable for the remaining normative period of study,
subject to satisfactory academic performance (Cumulative GPA of 3.6 or above),
and continuation of studies in the BEng programme in the Department of Civil
Engineering.
