HKU-Cambridge Hughes Hall Scholarships Scheme

The HKU-Cambridge Hughes Hall Scholarships Scheme was established to foster cultural and intellectual exchanges between students from The University of Hong Kong and the University of Cambridge. The scholarships are generously funded by Mr Tse Sik Yan.

Generously established by Mr Tse Sik Yan in honour of Mr Tse's grandfather, Mr Tse Yiu-Wah, father, Mr Tse Noon-Wing and mother, Mrs Tse Wong Mee-Kuen.

Note: Applications will be considered for admission to the University of Cambridge in 2027-28.

Purpose and Scope

- To forge closer ties between HKU and Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge;

- To foster cultural exchange and contribute to academic excellence; and

- To create opportunities for students to undertake overseas study, and upon completion of study/training at Hughes Hall, to contribute to HKU.


Eligibility

- Category A - Current HKU PhD students who wish to pursue a one-year, full-time Master’s degree at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge 

(Note: After the successful completion of Master’s studies at Cambridge, Category A awardees must return to HKU to continue their PhD studies.  Otherwise, they will be required to repay the full amount of the Scholarship.)

 - Category B - HKU graduates and final-year students who wish to pursue a one-year, full-time Master’s degree at Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge

 

Award Value

Master’s scholarships cover University Composition Fee partially for a maximum of one year.  (Note: The award quota may differ each year depending on fund availability.)
