On the Donor

In November 2021, Mr SK Ho (BSocSc 1980; MSocSc 1987) pledged a donation to establish a Scholarship in honour of his parents. The Scholarship shall support students at the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science to engage in overseas enrichment programmes during their studies at HKU, and gain exposure in different countries around the globe.

Purpose and Scope

Three scholarships shall be awarded annually, with one award for each of the programmes listed under point (ii) below, to students who:  
 
(i) are permanent residents of Hong Kong SAR or Mainland China; and 
 
(ii) are full-time students of one of the following programmes at the Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science: 

• Bachelor of Science (Major in Decision Analytics);
• Bachelor of Science (Major in Risk Management); or 
• Bachelor of Science (Major in Statistics); and 

(iii) have been accepted to exchange or enrichment programmes organised by the University, including but not limited to:  

• University Exchange programmes, e.g. Faculty-level exchange programmes; The HKU Worldwide Undergraduate Student Exchange Programme (HKUWW); or 
• Overseas Enrichment Programmes organised by HKU Horizons Office. 

The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit (with CGPA 3.0 or above) and the impact of the proposed activities. Where students are of equal merit, priority shall be given to students with financial need and/or participating in enrichment programmes in Mainland China or developing countries.
