HKU Scholarship for Non-Academic Talents Direct Admission

On the Donor

Since 2021, the Education Bureau and the University Grants Committee have introduced
different direct admission schemes based on students’ non-academic talents, such as the
School Nomination Direct Admission Scheme (SNDAS) and the Student-Athlete Learning
Support and Admission Scheme (SALSA), to encourage institutions to admit and support
students with multi-faceted excellence. Furthermore, new Sector-wide Performance
Measures in University Accountability Agreement will also include Non-Academic Talents
(NAT) Direct Admission for sports, music, leadership, creative arts and performing arts, etc.
In view of this, the University launches the HKU Scholarship for Non-Academic Talents
Direct Admission Scheme (“the Scholarship”) with reference to the assessment criteria of the
Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship introduced by the Home Affairs Bureau with the
addition of STEAM talents and entrepreneurships. The main purposes of the Scholarship are
(i) to recognise non-academic talents who could not be fully assessed by standardised
academic examinations; (ii) to enable the University to attract and groom high-calibre
students who have demonstrated exceptional talents in specific disciplines such as sports,
music, leadership, creative arts and performing arts, etc., to pursue undergraduate studies in
the University; (iii) to provide scholarships to non-academic talents to receive high-quality
education with enhanced learning experience while further developing their talents.
