On the Donor

In August 2022, Jingtian & Gongcheng LLP (the “Donor”) pledged to donate a sum of 
HK$200,000 to the Faculty of Law for the establishment of the “Jingtian & Gongcheng 
Scholarship” (the “Scholarship”) from 2022-23 for an initial period of four years. 

In August 2022, Jingtian & Gongcheng LLP pledged to donate a sum to the Faculty of Law (the “Faculty”) of The University of Hong Kong for the establishment of the Scholarship from 2022-23 for an initial period of four years. The Scholarship aims to recognise outstanding penultimate-year law students with good academic performance and other meritorious qualities. In January 2026, the Donor generously agreed to continue the Scholarship by donating another sum to the Faculty to fund the Scholarship.

Purpose and Scope

 One scholarship shall be available for award to students who are in Year 1 of the Juris 

Up to two scholarships shall be awarded each year to students who are in Year 1 of the Juris Doctor (JD) programme OR in the penultimate year of the following undergraduate law programmes: 

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB);
  • Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (BA&LLB);
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Law) and Bachelor of Laws (BBA(Law)&LLB);
  • Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Laws (BSc&LLB); and
  • Bachelor of Social Sciences (Government and Laws) and Bachelor of Laws (BSocSc(Govt&Laws)&LLB). 

The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit and interview performance. Undergraduate applicants should have achieved a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.40 or above as at semester one of the award year; JD applicants should have obtained his/her undergraduate degree with a Second Class Honours Division One or above, or its equivalent. Other factors, such as leadership qualities and participation in extra-curricular activities, will also be taken into consideration.

The Scholarship shall be of the value of HK$50,000 each and shall include a 4-week summer internship at the Donor’s office. The internship is expected to be completed in the calendar year in which the Scholarship is awarded.
