Towy Lisle Scholarship

On the Donor

In August 2022, a pledge of donation was made by Towy Lisle Incorporated via HSBC Global Private Banking (HSBC GPB) to set up a scholarship to support non-native Chinese speaking local students with good academic performance and financial difficulties. The Scholarship aims to show its commitment to the promotion of equal learning opportunities among students, whatever their ethnicity, cultural and family backgrounds.

 

Purpose and Scope

One new scholarship shall be awarded annually (from 2022-23 to 2025-26) to a non-native Chinese speaking local Year 1 undergraduate student who graduated from a secondary school in Hong Kong on the basis of the following criteria:

1) academic merit:

  • for the academic year 2022-23, as shown in university studies (as at the end of Semester 1),
  • for the academic year 2023-24 and thereafter, as shown in the prevailing public examinations for admission to the University,

2) financial need, and

3) nomination letter from the student’s secondary school principal to verify the student’s non-native Chinese speaking status and financial need.

Value of Award HK$42,100 each
Renewal Conditions Subject to satisfactory academic performance (CGPA of 3.0 or above, OR top 50% class ranking for programmes without GPA) being maintained in each academic year and the availability of funding.
