Chan Tung and Friends Global Community of Health for All Scholarship

On the Donor

In 2022, Dr Chan Tung and his friends (a total of eight donors) with a shared belief in building a global community of health for all, made donations in support of the establishment of an entrance scholarship for young healthcare professionals from low-income countries to pursue public health studies at HKU. It is hoped that after graduation, they would return to their respective home countries and work towards the betterment of the provision of health services.

The Board of Studies of Master of Public Health (MPH) established the Chan Tung and Friends Global Community of Health for All Scholarship to realise the charitable gift that the donors desire to make.

Purpose and Scope

Up to two scholarships shall be awarded each year to new students from low-income or lower-middle-income countries as defined by the World Bank pursuing the full-time or part-time MPH programme.

Each scholarship entails:

• waiver of the composition fees of the MPH programme;
• a stipend to support one-year’s living expenses;
• economy-class return airfare at the lowest cost between the awardee’s country of residence and Hong Kong; and
• one year’s free accommodation in university student residences.

The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need.
