Baker & McKenzie Scholarship

On the Donor

In 1994, Baker & McKenzie (“the Donor”) established the “Baker & McKenzie Scholarship”1   
at The University of Hong Kong. In 2005, the Donor established another Scholarship2 to 
BBA(Law), BSocSc(Govt&Laws) and BEng(Civ-E-Law) students. In 2005, the Donor 
revised the amount of both scholarships to match the tuition fee payable in scholarship 
recipients’ final year of the LLB programme. 
 
 
 
The “Baker & McKenzie Scholarship for Full Time LLB Students” and “Baker & McKenzie 
Scholarship for Full Time BBA/Law and BSS/Law Students” shall be merged under the name 
of “Baker & McKenzie Scholarship”

In 2005, the Donor revised the amount of both scholarships to match the tuition fee payable in scholarship recipients' final year of the LLB programme. 
 

From the academic year 2022-23, the “Baker & McKenzie Scholarship for Full Time LLB Students” and “Baker & McKenzie Scholarship for Full Time BBA/Law and BSS/Law Students” shall be merged under the name of “Baker & McKenzie Scholarship”.

Purpose and Scope

A maximum of two scholarships shall be awarded in each academic year on the basis 
of academic merit, and other qualities including leadership and personality, as follows: 
 
 
 
a) One scholarship, at the value of HK$45,000, shall be awarded in each academic 
year to a year 3 LLB student; and 
b) One scholarship, at the value of HK$80,000, shall be awarded in each academic 
year to a year 4 student studying one of the following double degree programmes: 
• Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (BA&LLB); or 
• Bachelor of Business Administration (Law) and Bachelor of Laws 
(BBA(Law)&LLB); or 
• Bachelor of Social Sciences (Government and Laws) and Bachelor of Laws 
(BSocSc(Govt&Laws)&LLB); or 
• Bachelor of Sciences and Bachelor of Laws (BSc&LLB).

The Scholarship shall be awarded subject to the student: 

a) Completing a Clerkship Programme with Baker & McKenzie in the year in which he/she is selected to receive the Scholarship; and   

b) If offered, having accepted a solicitor’s traineeship contract with Baker & McKenzie and undertaking to commence in the September following the student's successful completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) Programme.
