HKU First in the School Scholarship
On the Donor
The “First in the School” Scholarship is proposed to enable the University to (i)
strengthen relationships with selected feeder schools to encourage their top students, who
might have opted for other universities in Hong Kong or overseas, to study at HKU, and (ii)
open up discussions and explore/build relationships with schools and students, who otherwise
will not aim at entering HKU, either because they do not have confidence in meeting the
admissions requirements or the schools do not have the track record of sending their students
to join HKU due to the socio-economic background of their student populations. This applies
to both local and overseas schools. Nevertheless, it will be ensured that the list of schools
targeted for this scholarship will be those that have potential students who are able to meet
HKU’s admissions requirements.
This Scholarship applies to both local and overseas schools, and it shall be awarded from the 2023 admissions exercise.
Purpose and Scope

which no student was admitted to HKU in the past three years.
3. The number of awards to be made each year shall be determined subject to review
