In 2024, alumna Ms. Joey Wat (BSocSc 1994), CEO of Yum China Holdings Inc, pledged a
donation to establish a Scholarship to support local undergraduates in the Faculty
of Business and Economics (HKU Business School).
Up to 10 scholarships shall be made annually to full-time local Year 2 or Year 3
undergraduate students who are studying in the Faculty of Business and Economics with
no record of academic misconduct, and have completed at least two regular semesters of
study at the time of application.
The award of the Scholarship shall be on the basis of academic merit and financial need:
• a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above at the time of application; and
• financial hardship which might pose adversity to their studies. The assessment criteria shall be in accordance with the TSFS scheme and that the applicants should be granted grants and/or loans under TSFS.
The Scholarship shall be of the value of HK$20,000 each. Each recipient can only receive
the Scholarship once throughout his/her undergraduate studies.
