In 2024, the U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong and Macau (USCG), in collaboration with
The University of Hong Kong (HKU), established “The Immersive Exchange Scholarship
Programme (IMEX) of the U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong and Macau”. The IMEX
Scholarship Programme will support 15 U.S. undergraduate students to partake in academic
exchange at HKU for one semester from 2024-25 to promote shared educational and cultural
experiences.
The IMEX Scholarship Programme aims to incentivise U.S. university students to travel to and learn about Hong Kong and the greater China region.
The Scholarship shall support U.S. undergraduate students who have been admitted as exchange students at HKU from any Faculty for one semester.
Priority will be given to qualified students who have little to no Hong Kong experience.
Up to 15 scholarships shall be awarded to students on the basis of academic merit, with a
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, subject to the funding availability at that time. Financial
needs may also be taken into consideration.
