John Yau Scholarship

On the Donor

In May 2024, alumnus Dr John Yau Ka Po (BDS 2004; MOrth 2010; AdvDipOrth 2012) pledged a donation in support of the Pay It Forward Scholarship Campaign to establish the “John Yau Scholarship”. Dr Yau wishes to support undergraduate students at the Faculty of Dentistry with good academic performance, financial need and contributions to the University and community.

Purpose and Scope

Four scholarships shall be awarded each year to full-time local undergraduate students of the Faculty of Dentistry, on the basis of the following criteria and priority:

1. academic merit;
   
2. financial need;
   
3. active involvement in student residential hall activities; and
   
4. extra-curricular activities, such as HKU sports team representative, executive member of student society and project leaders, etc.
   

If the applicants are of comparable conditions, priority shall be given to the applicants who have engagement in community service. Recipients from the past academic year(s) shall be accorded lower priority.
