On the Donor

Mr. Fung Hau-chung, Andrew, SBS, JP (BA 1981), a veteran in banking and asset management, is the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of the Henderson Land Development Company Limited and he was awarded Silver Bauhinia Star (SBS) by the HKSAR Government in recognition of his meritorious contributions to the development of the financial services industry in Hong Kong over the years. 

Mr. Fung, our distinguished Arts alumnus has been a long-term supporter to his alma mater and devoted to serving in various governance bodies of the University. Mr. Fung praises Arts students for being imaginative, creative and open-minded, and encourages them to be adventurous in planning their future careers. In 2024, Mr. Fung pledged a donation to set up a scholarship to support undergraduate students at the Faculty of Arts.

Purpose and Scope

Up to FIVE awards, at the value of HK$10,000 each, shall be awarded annually to full-time third-year undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts majoring in the following Programmes under the following selection criteria:

(a) One scholarship each shall be awarded to a qualified student majoring in: 

    (i) Chinese Language and Literature or Chinese History and Culture;
    (ii) Comparative Literature; 
    (iii) English Studies;
    (iv) History; and
    (v) Translation; and 

(b) The qualified student(s) shall achieve the best academic performance in the Programme concerned, with a successful completion of at least 12 credits of courses offered by the Programme concerned during his/ her third-year of study.
