Master of Family Wealth Management Scholarship

In 2024, the Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE) and the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (HKIHSS) established a Scholarship for students of the Master of Family Wealth Management (MFWM) programme, which is jointly offered by FBE and HKIHSS.

Purpose and Scope

The Scholarship shall be awarded annually either as an Entrance Scholarship to new full-time MFWM students or a Merit-based Scholarship to current full-time MFWM students.

For the Entrance Scholarship, the number of scholarships to be awarded each year and the value of each scholarship shall be determined by the Faculty Scholarship Committee, upon the recommendation of the MFWM Admissions Committee based on the following criteria: 

  1. Reputation of candidates’ previous undergraduate or postgraduate institution;
  2. Academic performance;
  3. Past contribution to society and/ or wealth management industry; and/ or
  4. Potential for future impact to society and/ or wealth management industry.

Financial need may also be taken into consideration.

The Scholarship shall not be paid directly to the awardees, but rather be applied to cover their composition fees. In exceptional case, for students who are granted with full scholarship, an additional amount might be granted in the form of subsistence allowance. In any event, the value of each scholarship shall not be less than HK$10,000.

For the Merit-based Scholarship, the number of awards shall not exceed 20% of the class size in the relevant academic year, and the value of each scholarship shall be 10% of the composition fee of the given intake. The exact number of scholarships shall be determined by the Faculty Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship shall be awarded based on the following criteria: 

  1. Academic performance in the first three modules of the relevant academic year;
  2. Participation in the extracurricular activities arranged by the programme office and the career and enrichment teams, including, but not limited to, industry seminars, career workshops and student activities, in the first three modules of the relevant academic year;
  3. Recommendations from the course instructors of the first three modules in the relevant academic year on the course performance and class participation; and
  4. Level of support provided to the programme office in marketing and admissions efforts, student activities and other programme-related initiatives.
