Fung Wong Fung Ting and Esther F.Y. Fung Doctoral Entrance Scholarship for Medical Research Excellence

On the Donor

In 1987, Madam Fung Wong Fung Ting generously donated a sum for the establishment of Madam Fung Wong Fung Ting and Madam Esther F.Y. Fung Fund for Clinical Research at the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Medical Faculty). Over the past three decades, the Fund played a crucial role in supporting research projects, facilitating participation in research conferences, providing assistantships and studentships, fostering academic exchange and enabling research training opportunities. In November 2024, family representative of the late Madam Fung Wong Fung Ting agreed to transfer the Research Fund to establish a Scholarship for PhD students, with a focus on supporting local students.

Purpose and Scope

One scholarship shall be awarded each year to one new full-time local PhD student enrolled in the Medical Faculty based on academic merit and research calibre.

The Scholarship cannot be held concurrently with Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, HKU Presidential PhD Scholar Programme, or other entrance scholarships administered by the University.
