Dr Tam Siu Ming and his wife Mrs Annie Nga Yee Tam are both 1973 graduates from HKU
who studied Statistics and Mathematics, and Physics and Mathematics respectively. They
established successful careers in both Hong Kong and Canberra and are now retired. They are
grateful to the teaching staff at the Department of Mathematics for their guidance given in
developing their analytical thinking which has led to the solid foundation for their careers. In
May 2025, Dr Tam and Mrs Tam pledged to donate to establish a Scholarship to
support outstanding students at the Department of Mathematics.
One Scholarship shall be awarded each year to a Year 3 local undergraduate student
with Hong Kong Permanent Residency majoring in Mathematics on the basis of academic merit with a CGPA of 3.0 or above and financial need.
