In July 2025, Mr Timothy Gallie and Mrs Jill Gallie made an initial pledge to the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine for the establishment of a
Fellowship to benefit research postgraduate students who have a keen interest in the field
of Neurosurgery.
The Fellowship shall be awarded annually to a maximum of twenty full-time
research postgraduate students (MPhil/PhD), including new and renewed awardees,
at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine.
The Fellowship shall be awarded on the basis of (i) academic merits; (ii) quality of
research proposal (for PhD candidates only) which must be endorsed by the
candidates' supervisor(s); and (iii) relevance of the candidates’ research field to
Neurosurgery.
The Fellowship shall cover the following for each student per annum:
(i) the departmental/supervisors' contribution to the postgraduate scholarships (PGS) in cases where the research postgraduate students are not fully funded by the University;
(ii) an award of a sum of HK$80,000 per year to cover expenses related to the students’ research and/or overseas training and conference.
