Yu Family Whole Person Development Scholarship for Arts Students

In 2025, Arts alumni Mr. Yu Yiqi (BA) and Dr. Zhou Chengyi (BA, MPhil, PhD) pledged an initial donation to set up a Scholarship to support undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts who demonstrate the importance of humanities training in fostering their whole person development in the contemporary society nowadays. Mr. Yu is always grateful for and proud of his Arts background. He praises humanities education for equipping students with unique perspectives and versatile skills, such as critical thinking, strong communication, and cultural understanding, that strengthen adaptability in a rapidly changing environment and contribute significantly to personal growth and career development.

Purpose and Scope

Up to TWO scholarships shall be awarded annually to full-time undergraduate students in their third year or above in the Faculty of Arts, based on academic merit (CGPA 3.3 or above) and other attributes that demonstrate, with proven record, how humanities training is important in fostering their whole person development, including but not limited to demonstrated leadership abilities, active participation in community service and/or personal development activities, mastery in areas such as sports, music or artistic pursuits, or other non-academic achievements. Priority shall be given to students majoring in Art History, Chinese History and Culture, Chinese Language and Literature, or English Studies.

The value of each scholarship shall be in the range of HK$30,000 – HK$50,000 and shall be determined by the Selection Committee.

A student can only be granted this Scholarship ONCE during his/ her normative period of studies.
