Glorious Sun Group Postgraduate Scholarship in Buddhist Studies

On the Donor

The Glorious Sun Group (旭日集團, GSG) generously donated a sum to set up a Scholarship in 2002 for Buddhist clergies pursuing studies in the Master of Buddhist Studies (MBS) degree programme. GSG has agreed to widen the scope of the scholarships scheme to include Research Postgraduate (RPG) degrees and Master of Buddhist Counselling (MBC) programme as well.

Purpose and Scope

Buddhist clergies who pursue the MBS, MBC and RPG programmes in the Centre of Buddhist Studies shall be eligible for consideration of the award. For scholarship awarded to MBS and RPG students, preference will be given to MBS students. 

Applicants are required to have written endorsement from their Masters/abbesses to support their applications. The endorsement letter should be submitted to the Selection Committee together with the applications. 

The Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of the candidates’ (i) academic merit, (ii)  the candidates’ financial need. An interview may be conducted if necessary, and the interview performance shall be taken into consideration

Awardees who receive scholarships that fully cover their tuition fee may be required to assist with academic activities as prescribed by the Centre Director.
